Missing the holiday season? Don’t worry, contrary to popular belief there are plenty of fun and unusual holidays throughout the entire year. Here are a few upcoming national days to mark on your calendar, along with creative ways to celebrate!
National Pizza Day (February 9)
If there’s one thing that brings people together more than the holidays, it’s pizza.
- DIY pizza night: Invite friends over for a DIY pizza making party. Make it fancy by getting a few different sauces and lots of toppings choices.
- Pizza taste test: You and your friends order pizzas from a few different spots and vote on your favorite. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover your new favorite place.
Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17)
Be kind every day, but on February 17th, go the extra mile!
- Compliment spree: Take a few minutes out of your day to comment something kind on a friend’s social media post or better yet give them a compliment in person. It might turn their whole day around!
- Pay it forward: Pay for the coffee or meal for the person behind you in line. Who knows? You might just start a kindness chain.
National Plant a Flower Day (March 12)
Transition from winter to spring by planning a colorful nature activity.
- Gardening: Plant flowers in your yard or in pots to bring some spring into your house. You can also give them to friends or family and put a smile on their faces.
- DIY flower pots: Invite some friends over and have a fun craft night. All you need is some pots and paint. Go crazy!
National Pi Day (March 14)
Moving on from pizza pie to regular pie, or should I say pi? A day for foodies and math lovers alike!
- Pie party: Bring a pie to share with your math class. You could even carve 3.14 into it!
- Pi-off: Gather friends to bake pies together and see who’s is best. While they are baking see who can name the most digits of pi.
National Puppy Day (March 23)
Who doesn’t love dogs much less puppies? Dedicating a whole day to them sounds more than perfect.
- Visit a local shelter: Find a local shelter to visit and spend some time playing or walking dogs. They can always use volunteers plus you get to spend time with the cutest puppies!
- Puppy playdate: If you have a puppy, take them to a dog park to make new friends. You can even invite your friends and their puppies. Double play date!
Whether you’re baking pies, eating pizza, playing with puppies, or planting flowers, these fun and unique holidays are the perfect way to spice up your day to day life. And if you’re lucky, you might even make some memories that’ll last long after the day is over!
