Most senior columns in general seem to focus on the journalist’s fond memories from both their time on staff and at high school. Not this one, though. Here are five reasons why I am absolutely elated to graduate.
1. I will stop being out-dressed by Ms. Mockler.
It’s hard coming to school think- ing you look presentable, and then quickly getting humbled by your AP Stats teacher’s impeccable sense of style. I’m so excited to go to school without looking disheveled by comparison to Ms. Mockler.
2. I will fear fire alarms again.
At this point, I feel nothing when I hear the alarm go off. Hopefully the classi- cal conditioning will wear off by the time I get to college and I’ll learn to take them seriously.
3. I will stop being respectful, responsible, and ready.
It’s stressful constantly modeling the pillars of the U-House Way. It’ll be a huge relief when I let go of these qualities the second I receive my diploma.
4. I will get over my fear of “the horn.”
5. I will stop comparing myself to Leonardo DiCaprio.
His locker is a constant reminder that I will never star in “Titanic.”
I guess I’ll miss my teachers and friends, and being a part of LACES Untied. However, for these reasons, it’s with great happiness that I officially sign off!
