LACES girls flag football (0-1-1) lost their second game of the season against the Hamilton Yankees (2-4). In the first half of the game Hamilton was able to score a touchdown, taking the lead making the score 8-0. Continuing in the second half, Hamilton was again able to score another touchdown ending the game with the winning score being 14-0.
The Unicorns ended the game with 3 interceptions, 7 rushes, 11 receptions and 2 sacks. In the first half of the game Samantha Williams, a senior, was able to receive the ball twice thrown by Reese Wu. Although she was only able to run once with the ball, that singular run pushed LACES even closer to the end zone.
Another player who stood out was freshman R’Riana Else West, despite being a freshman her determination and energy in the game assisted her having two interceptions, one rush and one reception. On top of this West looked out for her teammates making sure they were positioned right, in one play she noticed that safety wasn’t in the right spot, immediately letting her coach know what was going on in the field. As a result, she was able to intercept the ball in the following play by Hamilton.
Despite their effort, many things still needed some improvement, one of them being communication. “I think we can improve on our overall communication and teamwork,” said Quarterback Reese Wu. “ Communication is key in all sports, in this case for flag football it’s important for safety,
