LACES Junior Willow Chambers has released her debut single Orbit on September 27, as well as her EP Eyes Met Mine on October 18, 2024 under the name Willow Corinne. Her music is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. Inspired by a mentor to start songwriting, she began her journey over the summer of 2024, interested in writing about her interpretation of what love should be.
“I like to romanticize things so I wanted to give what I thought love should be in music that would be good for all ages. It’s not necessarily inappropriate or anything, it’s not vulgar, it doesn’t have language. I wanted a song that would be great for everybody to hear,” said Chambers.
She’s been involved in music since she was 11 years old. Her first time singing was in her old church, Faithful Central Bible Church’s summer production of Toy Story. Ever since, she’s been taking vocal lessons, performing, and as well as being involved with the LACES Jazz Band since her Sophomore year.
While making Orbit, Chambers relied on people she already knew, and connected with the people involved through her father.
“I wrote the lyrics and the melody for the lyrics and then I sent them over to a composer that my dad knows, and he composed the instrumentation, and then I went to a producer that my dad knows and then we recorded the song and got it mastered,” said Chambers.
Despite her experience with music throughout her life, she was nervous to release original music.
“I was nervous about releasing music because it’s not necessarily like lots of people are coming out with songs in our grade, so I didn’t know how they would receive it. These are songs that I want people to be able to relate to, like girls my age. It’s all romance songs,” said Chambers.
Although Chambers had her worries, she is glad to have received support from her peers at school.
“I would appreciate it if everyone could listen. I’m really grateful to everybody that has shown support. Stay tuned, and keep up with my socials!”
