What a season for the LACES varsity baseball team. LACES Varsity Baseball wrapped up the year with an outstanding 17-6 record, finishing second in the Western League behind Venice High School, a historic first for our school.
A huge congratulations to the first-team All-League honorees: Jack Stutz, Luke Polizzi, Cai Bloom-Furedi, and Rylan Hilaire.
Equally deserving of recognition are the second-team All-League selections: Simeon Hapte-Selassie, Brandon Phan, Ezra Fife, and Adrian Hernandez.
Additionally, senior Jack Stutz was named Western League MVP as the top player in the entire conference.
“[Winning MVP] meant a lot. It felt great. I think it was a nice addition to the culmination of my baseball career,” said Stutz.
Stutz said the award was especially meaningful because of the support and competitive culture the team built throughout the season.
“I couldn’t have done it without, you know, my teammates, my coaches, and the community that we’ve created here on the LACES Baseball team. It was very exciting, and I’m glad that I have done my part, and I’m glad that I played my best, where I could help my team, and help my teammates,” said Stutz.
Stutz also reflected on what helped drive both his individual success and the team’s accomplishments this season.
“I think the biggest factor is just the competitive nature that the team brought this year and the fact that we really wanted to take it seriously and take our program to the next level,” said Stutz. ”I think that pushed us all to be our best, and having that environment, that competitive environment, pushed me to play the best I can, as well as my teammates. When one of us went down, we lifted each other up, and that’s what kept me going.”
LACES is extremely proud of everything this team has accomplished this season. The future is bright for LACES Baseball.
